Veterinary Public Health Centre (VPHC) - Fully Booked

AVA adopts a holistic system with regard to food safety, encompassing accreditation, import control, inspection and surveillance, as well as laboratory testing. Our farm-to-fork approach means that food safety is assured from the farm to the dining table. Food safety testing plays an important part in AVA’s integrated food safety programme.

VPHC houses state-of-the-art facilities where a comprehensive range of analytical services for microbiological, chemical, pesticide and drug contamination are being carried out in line with internationally recognised procedures and standards. These include tests for food poisoning and spoilage organisms, harmful chemicals and toxins to support AVA’s import and surveillance programmes.

In addition, the Centre facilitates trade through the provision of export testing services to the food industry for the export of meat, fish and dairy products to more than 40 countries. Under the One-Health Platform, the laboratory provides testing services to support investigations on food poisoning incidences in Singapore.

The Centre also embarks on research and development work to build up capability to detect emerging hazards, and collaborates with international and national partners in various areas of food safety. Its strong scientific team provides domain expertise to support AVA’s policy and programme review, as well as in risk assessment.
